The story begins in May 1849 when miners working on the property of the Giusti family discovered, quite by chance, hot steam coming out of the earth. The small opening was made larger to allow them to enter the place which had remained a secret until then: the Grotto. After visiting the cave, every visitor was invaded by “a pleasant sensation of well-being” and the owners, the family of the Italian poet Giuseppe Giusti, had the bright idea of turning it into a small spa. Nowadays there is evidence of the healing effects of the "thermal steam bath" and continuous innovations have brought this health resort to its impressive, current aspect.
Set in a 45 hectares private park with century-old trees, the early nineteenth century villa is now a prestigious, exclusive hotel. The elegant rooms, furnished in a refined, sober style, offer unexpected details such as luxurious, white marble bathrooms with thermal running water. Of course, health and well-being go hand in hand with good food and excellent cuisine: you’ll find all this at the hotel restaurant “La Veranda” which joins creativity with tradition. The choice goes from typical Tuscan cuisine, also called “gourmet”, to low calorie recipes, named “Spa cuisine”. Weather permitting, you can have breakfast on the terrace of “La Pergola” or at the "Bioaquam Café", by the pool side.
If you wish to have fun, you can play on the beautiful, demanding golf course Montecatini which is only 5 km away from the hotel.
